About AMAS

The Alaska Medical Assistant Society serves as a professional organization dedicated to the education and professionalism of Medical Assistants striving for continued growth and career advancement.  It is affiliated with the national organization of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

The Alaska State Medical Assistant Society has one local chapter in Anchorage and members-at-large throughout the state of Alaska, with approximately 200 members state-wide.  Because Alaska is so large it is a challenge for the members to meet with each other and plan continuing education seminars and events.  The State Conference and

Seminar which are held each year are important in keeping the members in touch with each other as well as providing the needed continuing education requirements to keep the CMA (AAMA) credential current for each member. 

It is hoped that this website can be used as a tool to help our members stay in touch with each other and be able to post helpful information about the State and Local chapter events.

A Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled allied health care professional trained to perform administrative and/or clinical duties in an ambulatory or immediate care setting under the supervision of a licensed health care practitioner.
